Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Postqron uses. It complements the Privacy Policy.
1. The short version
Postqron uses very few cookies, and almost all of them are strictly necessary. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell data to anyone, and nothing that is not strictly necessary runs before you agree to it.
2. What we use
2.1 Strictly necessary
These make the service work. They do not require consent, and you cannot turn them off without breaking sign-in.
| Purpose | Kind | Retained |
|---|---|---|
| Keeping you signed in | Cookie, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite |
Session duration |
| Protecting forms against cross-site request forgery | Cookie | Session duration |
| Remembering the language you chose | Cookie or local storage | 12 months |
| Remembering your cookie choices | Cookie | 6 months, after which we ask again |
The language cookie deserves a word: it stores a preference you expressed, nothing about who you are, and without it the site would forget your language on every visit.
2.2 Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are read. It is the only non-essential technology on this site.
| Purpose | Provider | Stored in your browser | Retained | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Measuring how the site is used: pages opened, the site you arrived from, and the country, browser and device type derived from the request | Cloudflare | Nothing | 7 days of unsampled measurements, then aggregate statistics we can read for 6 months | Your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR |
Cloudflare is not a new name here: it already serves this site and is already listed in §4 of the Privacy Policy. Your IP address reaches it as it does on every request to this site, and Cloudflare does not use it to build an identifier for you.
It sets no cookies, and we ask you anyway. Cloudflare Web Analytics writes nothing to your browser — no cookie, no local storage — and builds no identifier that follows you between visits or between sites. On the letter of the rules about storing things on your device, there would be nothing here to ask you about.
We ask all the same, and this deserves a reason rather than looking like an oversight. Version 1.0.0 of this policy promised that analytics, when they came, would stay blocked until you agreed; a promise made in a document people consent to is not ours to reinterpret later because we found a technique that would let us skip it. And prior consent is the position we chose, not the minimum we are held to: measuring how you use this site is still something we do about you, and asking is the honest form of it.
So the script is not on the page until you accept, and refusing leaves the site exactly as it is — nothing here depends on being measured. You can change your mind, in either direction, from the footer link (§3).
Apart from this we use no advertising, profiling or social media cookies or technologies. Analytics do not appear under "strictly necessary", because measuring how a site is used is not necessary to make it work — which is why they are here and not in §2.1.
2.3 Cookies set by others
- Paddle sets cookies during checkout, necessary to complete payment and to prevent fraud. They are governed by Paddle's own cookie policy.
- Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie to protect the site from abusive traffic.
We do not embed third-party content that tracks you across sites.
3. Your choices
When you first visit, a banner asks what you accept. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting: both are a single click, at the same level, with the same prominence. We do not use a design that nudges you toward accepting.
Non-essential cookies and technologies are blocked until you agree to them, not set first and cleaned up afterwards.
You can change your choice at any time from the link in the footer, and you can also delete cookies in your browser — though doing so will sign you out and reset your language.
4. How long consent lasts
We record what you chose, when, on which version of this policy and in which language. We ask again when this policy changes materially, or after 6 months.
5. Changes
We may update this policy. The version and effective date are at the top; material changes reset consent.
